ZeroGallery is designed around a simple principle: your personal photos should remain private. This Privacy Policy explains what the app accesses, what information may be processed, and the choices available to you.
1. Developer and scope
ZeroGallery is developed and operated by Başak Hicret (“ZeroGallery,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Başak Hicret is the developer responsible for the processing described in this policy. This policy applies to the ZeroGallery: Photo Cleanup mobile application, its support website, and related communications. Privacy questions may be sent through our support email.
2. Photo and video library access and use
ZeroGallery requests photo access only after presenting an explanation in the app. Photo access is used to create Gallery Hunts, show previews, organize photos by date, identify screenshots, create memory cards, and suggest possibly blurry or out-of-focus items using on-device sharpness analysis. Quality suggestions are automated estimates and may be inaccurate. You may grant full or limited access and may change or revoke permission at any time in your device settings.
When you choose a video feature such as Large Video Hunt, ZeroGallery accesses videos available through the Photos permission you have granted. The app uses duration and resolution information to suggest videos for review and creates temporary local thumbnails for display. When needed, iOS Photos may fetch a thumbnail from your iCloud library to display a selected video. ZeroGallery does not upload that thumbnail or your video.
Smart Finder analyzes permitted photo thumbnails locally using Apple Vision and on-device Core ML models. It may recognize text, QR codes, visual subjects, colors, document types, and likely source apps, and create local visual embeddings and a searchable index. Finder searches, recent search terms, OCR-derived text, labels, embeddings, and the Finder index remain on your device. They are not sent to PostHog and are not uploaded to a ZeroGallery server.
Depending on the feature, ZeroGallery may process media contents or thumbnails; local library identifiers; creation and modification dates; dimensions; duration; media type; screenshot status; filenames; locally recorded keep or favorite decisions; and, where present, location coordinates. This information is processed locally on your device for the app features described above. ZeroGallery does not upload photos, videos, thumbnails, or media-library metadata to a developer-controlled server.
3. Media deletion and favorites
Swiping left does not immediately delete a photo or video. It adds the item to an in-app review list. Media is deleted from your library only after you review the selection and approve the operating system’s confirmation prompt. Your operating system and cloud-media provider may retain deleted items in a “Recently Deleted” area according to their own settings.
Favorite and keep decisions are used to provide the app experience and calculate local progress statistics. ZeroGallery currently stores aggregate favorite counts, not a remotely hosted copy of your favorite photos. Video review does not automatically add videos to photo favorites.
4. Information stored locally
The app stores preferences, onboarding status, unfinished Gallery Hunt drafts, Gallery Hunt history, streaks, weekly missions, rewards, XP, achievements, reminder time, purchase-access state, favorite and review decisions, cached library indexes, and aggregate activity statistics locally on your device. Unfinished Gallery Hunt drafts expire automatically.
Smart Finder also stores a local searchable index, indexing status, recent searches, media identifiers and metadata needed for search, OCR-derived text, visual and category labels, document and source-app inferences, location coordinates where present, and visual embeddings. This information is used only to provide on-device search and is not tied to a ZeroGallery account because ZeroGallery does not currently offer account creation.
5. Optional local notifications
ZeroGallery may offer optional local notifications for Daily Photo Hunt, Streak Reminder, and On This Day Photos. The operating system asks for notification permission only if you choose to enable them. You can select a reminder time, turn individual reminders off in the app, or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings. These reminders are scheduled and delivered on your device and do not include photo or video details. ZeroGallery does not use remote push notifications in the current version.
6. Purchases and service providers
ZeroGallery uses Apple App Store billing and RevenueCat to offer, validate, manage, and restore ZeroGallery Pro auto-renewable subscriptions, including weekly and yearly plans. Apple and RevenueCat may process purchase and subscription status, transaction or receipt and product information, country or storefront, an app-user identifier, and technical app or device information needed to provide and manage purchases under their respective terms and privacy policies.
The production app configures RevenueCat without a custom user identifier, so RevenueCat generates an anonymous app-user ID. ZeroGallery does not send RevenueCat your name, email address, or a custom account identifier and does not call RevenueCat advertising-attribution or device-advertising-identifier collection methods. ZeroGallery does not receive or store your full payment-card details; payment processing is handled by Apple. Photos, videos, thumbnails, Smart Finder data, and other media-library contents are not provided to RevenueCat or PostHog.
App analytics
ZeroGallery uses PostHog for product analytics when analytics configuration is enabled in the app build. PostHog receives manually recorded events used to understand feature usage and improve the app, such as app opens and session duration; onboarding, navigation, Gallery Hunt, cleanup, paywall and subscription actions; aggregate reviewed or cleaned counts and estimated storage amounts; Smart Finder usage; feedback and review actions; and memory-card feature usage. Purchase analytics may include the selected plan, product identifier, localized price, currency, introductory-offer eligibility, source screen, result, or an error reason.
These events include a randomly generated anonymous or pseudonymous PostHog identifier and may include app name, app identifier, version and build; device manufacturer, model and type; operating-system name and version; locale, time zone, screen dimensions, and whether the app is running in a simulator. PostHog may also process the IP address used to deliver an analytics request. ZeroGallery does not call PostHog identify or alias methods and does not send PostHog a name, email address, or ZeroGallery account identifier.
PostHog autocapture, automatic screen tracking, automatic app-lifecycle capture, and session recording or replay are disabled. ZeroGallery does not send photos, videos, thumbnails, photo-library contents, Finder search text, OCR text, Finder labels, embeddings, or the Finder index to PostHog. Finder analytics are limited to events and non-content properties such as a selected predefined category, result count, media filter, result media type, or no-results state. No separate crash-reporting service is integrated, and automatic PostHog error capture is not enabled in the current implementation.
In-app feedback
If you submit feedback inside the app, ZeroGallery sends the feedback type and message, together with app version, build number, iOS version, device model, and app language, to the ZeroGallery feedback endpoint. The endpoint uses the request IP address temporarily for rate limiting and sends the feedback by email through Resend. It does not attach photos or videos unless you separately choose to include them in a support communication.
7. What we do not do
ZeroGallery does not sell or rent personal information. We do not use your photos for advertising, cross-app tracking, profiling, facial recognition, or artificial-intelligence model training. The mobile app does not include a third-party advertising or attribution SDK and does not request access to the advertising identifier. ZeroGallery does not operate a developer-controlled backend that stores users’ photo or video libraries, Smart Finder indexes, Finder search text, local Gallery Hunt history, or local progress.
The ZeroGallery website uses the Google tag for Google Ads conversion measurement. Google may process browser and device information, IP address, visited pages, referral information, and interactions with website links or buttons, and may use cookies or similar technologies according to its privacy policy. Website measurement is separate from the PostHog product analytics used in the mobile app and does not give Google access to photos or videos stored in ZeroGallery.
8. Support communications
If you contact us by email, we receive the email address you use, your message, and any device, app-version, screenshot, or diagnostic information you voluntarily include. In-app feedback is handled as described in Section 6. We use support and feedback information to answer requests, troubleshoot issues, improve and protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and is then deleted or anonymized, unless longer retention is legally required.
9. Retention and deletion
Local preferences and progress remain on your device until you use Reset ZeroGallery Progress, clear the app’s storage where supported, or remove the app. Reset ZeroGallery Progress clears local XP, streaks, Hunt history, achievements, preferences, favorites, unfinished Hunt drafts, certain library-review caches, and scheduled reminders. It does not delete photos or videos, cancel a subscription, clear the Smart Finder index or recent Finder searches, or erase information already processed by Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, or the feedback service.
You can clear recent search terms from the Finder screen. The local Finder index and embeddings remain in the app’s storage so search can work and are updated as the permitted library changes. Removing the app or clearing all app storage removes these local app files, subject to your operating system’s behavior. Photos you deliberately delete are handled by your device and photo provider.
Purchase records and related identifiers may be retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their policies and legal, fraud-prevention, tax, and accounting obligations. Analytics and feedback information may be retained by PostHog, the website hosting provider, Resend, or ZeroGallery as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy and under their applicable retention settings and legal obligations. Because ZeroGallery does not currently create user accounts or maintain a user-account database, there is no ZeroGallery account to delete.
10. Privacy choices and data deletion
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, local media access is performed at your request and with the permission you grant through your device. Purchase processing is necessary to provide and restore the subscription you request, and limited product analytics is used to understand and improve the app. You can revoke or limit Photos permission, disable notifications, reset local progress, decline or manage a subscription, clear recent Finder searches, or stop using the app at any time.
Photos permission: Use iOS Settings to grant full or limited Photos access, update selected photos, or revoke Photos access. Photo-only features do not require access to videos.
Notification permission: Use ZeroGallery’s Notification Settings to disable individual reminders or your system settings to revoke all notification access.
Local ZeroGallery data: Open Profile → Data & Privacy → Reset ZeroGallery Progress to remove the local information listed in Section 9. This does not delete media, cancel a subscription, clear recent Finder searches or the Finder index, reset the PostHog anonymous identifier, or delete RevenueCat purchase records.
Finder data: Use the Clear action in Finder to remove recent search terms. To remove the entire on-device Finder index and embeddings, remove the app or clear all app storage where your operating system supports it.
Subscriptions: Manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting ZeroGallery does not cancel an active subscription.
Support, feedback, and analytics information: To request access, correction, or deletion where applicable, use our support email with the subject “ZeroGallery Privacy Request.” We may need information sufficient to locate the relevant records, and some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons.
No account to delete: ZeroGallery currently has no sign-up or login feature and does not maintain a remote user database, so there is no ZeroGallery account to delete. If accounts are introduced later, an in-app and web deletion method will be provided before launch.
Google Ads controls: You can limit or remove advertising cookies through your browser settings and manage Google advertising personalization through Google’s advertising settings.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights concerning personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or complaint to a data-protection authority.
11. International processing
Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, the website hosting provider, Resend, and Google may process the limited service-related information described in this policy in countries other than your own. Their privacy notices explain their locations, safeguards, and transfer practices.
12. Children
ZeroGallery is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Security
ZeroGallery is designed to minimize collection and data transfer. Access to photos and videos is controlled by your operating system, and deletion requires system confirmation. No method of storage or processing is completely secure, but we use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the limited information we handle.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when ZeroGallery, its providers, or applicable requirements change. We will publish the updated policy here and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated within the app where appropriate.
